BLUES SEEK TO ENGAGE FANS THROUGH TEAM TOKENS PLATFORM

The Blues have announced a first with Team Tokens, a blockchain based fan engagement platform.

The Blues plan on rolling out Blues collectibles in 2022 as a test and learn, including digital content, experiences and merchandise.

The Team Tokens launch will involve offering 500 fans a chance to download a free digital version of a never-before-seen Blues titles poster with ten downloads receiving a physical signed 2022 team poster and a further ten will receive platinum tickets for two to the Blues Rebels game on the 6th of May.

Further offerings in 2022 will enable fans to get closer to the team and purchase exclusive experiences, including a visit to the Blues team changing shed post-match.

In 2023 the intent is to work with Team Tokens to release a certain number of Blues Tokens which can be earned, for example, by either fans attending a match or completing a questionnaire; or can be purchased via the Blues website.

Blues Tokens can then be used to redeem content, experiences and exclusive apparel, getting fans closer to the club and their heroes.

The various collectables offered by the Blues will be able to be purchased using New Zealand dollars and will be easily downloadable, with no knowledge of digital wallets or blockchain technology required.

Blues General Manager of Commercial Todd Hewitt says the club has undertaken research with its fan base to ascertain the types of collectibles fans want to see from the club.  

“Everything we’ve learnt has highlighted the need to educate and inform fans and take them on the journey.

“We are very much in the test and learn phase and will use 2022 to dip our toe in the water and understand Blues fans appetite to engage with collectibles and unique experiences.

We won’t get it 100% right, but that’s ok, as long as we are giving fans a reason to engage, we think it will resonate.”
