BLUES SET FOR FAST START IN 2025

A tantalizing Grand Final rematch against the Chiefs kicks off a mouth-watering opening month of rugby for the Blues as they launch their defence of the Super Rugby Pacific title.

Today’s Super Rugby Pacific draw release sets down a fast start for the defending champion Blues, with three New Zealand derbies in the opening three weeks of competition.

Blues fans can also look forward to Eden Park matches against the Chiefs, Crusaders and Hurricanes - all before the halfway point in the competition.

Families and fans of afternoon footy have been catered for with the Blues doubling their Eden Park afternoon offering in 2025.

The Blues host Moana Pasifika on Saturday 12 April and the Waratahs on Saturday 31 May both at 4:35pm at Eden Park.

Blues CEO, Andrew Hore, said having the draw locked in is a stake in the ground to start building towards the season.

“We’re really looking forward to the season ahead and to start with a bang against the Chiefs at Eden Park is sure to get fans excited for the Super Rugby season,” said Hore.

“We want fans of Super Rugby Pacific to enjoy the experience of attending live sport. We’ve listened to fans around afternoon kick-offs and we’re working hard to enhance our match day experience and ensuring our home games represent a value for money offering,” said Hore.

Blues GM of Rugby, Murray Williams, said he’s happy to have a settled coaching and playing group heading into the new season.

“We’ve got the same group of coaches returning for 2025 – it’s great to have some consistency in that space as we look to lay strong foundations as a club that will last beyond the current group,” said Williams.

“We’ll name our full playing squad in November, and we’ve been very deliberate with introducing the right type of people into our environment. We want players who understand our club’s values and approach and feel the new talent we’re looking at tick those boxes,” he said.
