Zarn attended King’s College while progressing through the development programmes at Auckland Rugby and the Blues. He represented NZ Maori Schools and NZ Schools at first-five before moving into the Blues A Team in 2020.
Sullivan got his break in 2020 where he was selected for the Auckland NPC side earning eight caps at fullback, while also spending much of the 2020 season training as injury cover with the Blues.
Zarn made his Blues debut in the final round of the 2021 Super Rugby Aotearoa season, starting at fullback against the Chiefs at Eden Park. Coincidentally, Zarn’s brother Bailyn was playing for the Chiefs, making the occasion extra special for the Sullivan family.
Sullivan went on to feature at fullback for the entire Super Rugby Trans-Tasman campaign, showing a calm head under pressure. In 2022 Sullivan’s talent was recognised when he was selected for the NZ Māori team off the back of an impressive Super Rugby campaign.
Sullivan continued to impress in 2023, strong performances at fullback earning him several starts in regular competition with Stephen Perofeta. His prodigious left boot and deceptive running lines were once again on display in 2024, with Sullivan starting the opening game of the season at fullback and using his raking punt and the 50-22 rule to good effect throughout the early part of the season.
After appearing in the opening five rounds of 2024, injury struck for Sullivan, meaning a spell on the sidelines to rehabilitate his knee. He returned in Round 12 to play the Hurricanes and his brother Bailyn at Eden Park. However it appeared 2024 wasn’t going to be Zarn’s year with another knee injury (different to the first) effectively ending his season early.
Sullivan will be back in 2025 and hungry for more Super Rugby Pacific game time with competition for the fullback spot expected to be as hot as ever.
Zarn is contracted with the Blues through until the end of the 2026 season.
