Prop Jordan Lay, a Samoan international and sibling of former Blues brother James Lay joined the Blues in 2022.

Jordy, along with his brother James was born in Samoa and moved to Auckland when he was just three years old. The pair grew up at the same schools, culminating at Kings’ College where they presented a formidable front-row pairing in the First XV.

Out of school Jordan headed south to the Bay of Plenty, before venturing to the UK in 2018 for stints at Edinburgh and Bristol. He was selected to play for Manu Samoa at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and has earned 26 caps for his home nation (at time of writing).

In the highly competitive front row for the Blues, Jordy’s game time has been restricted in recent years. Unfortunately, after a thorough pre-season in 2024 and a couple of appearances in the early rounds of Super Rugby Pacific, Lay suffered an ankle injury that ruled him out of pretty much the entire season. He was a regular in the gym rehabbing the injury and is in superb shape ready to hit the 2025 season with vigour.

Jordan is contracted with the Blues through until the end of the 2026 season.
