Harry Plummer made his debut for the Blues in the opening round of 2019. He is the former Deputy Head Boy at St Peter’s College and Grammar TEC Premier Club Captain. Plummer appeared for the New Zealand Secondary Schools team in 2016 as well as the New Zealand Under-20s in 2018.

His Provincial debut came in 2017 against Bay of Plenty. He featured three times for the blue and white hoops of Auckland in his first season.

Harry signed for the 2019 Super Rugby campaign off the back of a successful NPC campaign running the cutter to his first premiership, producing performances that belied his years.

Harry made his Blues debut from the bench against the Crusaders in the opening round of the 2019 Super season and went on to feature in every single game thereafter. He has several seasons of experience at the helm of Auckland and has developed his game to be an option at both first-five and second-five eighths.

His ability to cover multiple backline positions has seen him as a perennial feature in the Blues match day squads, including the 2021 Super Rugby Trans-Tasman final - where Plummer slotted two crucial kicks late in the game to seal the Blues first title in 18 years.

After another strong showing in 2022 for the Blues, Plummer is fast becoming an experienced head and regular fixture in the Blues backline. This was especially evident when he was named as Captain when the Blues played the Force at Eden Park in 2023, a season where he also chalked up his 50th Blues appearance. It wasn’t all smooth sailing for Plummer that season, a heart condition saw him sidelined for a couple of weeks in the middle part of the campaign.

Harry’s versatility, game awareness and leadership were all on show in his 2024 Blues campaign. In a nod to his durability, he appeared in every round of the Super Rugby Pacific season and found himself playing in the pivotal 10 jersey for the business end of the season. He did so with aplomb, his performances so good he retained the jersey even when Stephen Perofeta returned from injury.

Plummer had an outstanding season, his Grand Final performance a reflection of that, kicking 7/7 and guiding the team around with his sharp kicking and passing game. Throughout the season Plummer accumulated 110 points. As Plummer prepared for another season with Auckland in the 2024 NPC, he received a call up to the All Blacks as injury cover – ironically for team mate Stephen Perofeta. After travelling with the national squad for the Rugby Championship, Plummer’s All Blacks dream turned into reality – coming on at the back end of the first Bledisloe Cup Test in Sydney.

Blues fans will watch with anticipation as Plummer enters the 2025 season having come of age in their title winning year. His cool head and game-reading ability will be an asset to the team as they go about a title defense.

Harry is contracted with the Blues through until the end of the 2025 season.
