SUPER RUGBY PACIFIC AND BLUES ADAPT FOR AN EXCITING 2022 SEASON AHEAD

The competitions committee on both sides of the Tasman have been working overtime with the latest Covid-travel restrictions to produce a revamped draw for the 2022 Super Rugby Pacific competition.

The competition is much the same but with the derby games in the first half of the competition followed by the trans-Tasman component ahead of the playoffs.

“The new competition upholds the integrity of the new competition as it is still home and away against all teams and points are accumulated across the season,” said Blues CEO Andrew Hore.

The Blues will host six games starting with two fantastic family afternoon games against the Hurricanes and the Chiefs, both at Eden Park, followed by the opportunity to take our Round 4 game to the wonderful Semenoff Stadium in Whangarei on Friday 11 March with a 7.05pm kick-off. Why not plan a great weekend away in the magical Northland?

The Blues take on Moana Pasifika in the opening round at Mt Smart before hosting them in a block-buster on Saturday 2 April at Eden Park with a 7.05pm kick-off.

All teams travel for a Super Round in Melbourne in Round 10 – which would have been a home game for the Blues – taking on the Fijian Drua. Due to this change in scheduling, the Blues management team are looking at some other options for members who have opted in for the six home-game membership, more information on this will come early in the New Year.

The team has two more home clashes against the Melbourne Rebels on 6 May and the Queensland Reds on 14 May, both at Eden Park.

The playoffs are still planned with quarter-finals, semi-finals and grand final – and we proudly hope to be there with your support – to the end.
