EDEN PARK IS TURNING…BLUE?

Something strange is happening around Eden Park this week, with parts of the stadium and surrounding areas turning blue.

Kingsland locals and stadium staff are perplexed as to the cause of the ‘blue-ifying’, with grass, gardens, stadium seats and statues around the area all with a blue hue.

Eden Park CEO, Nick Sautner, who was seen out early this morning checking on the Michael Jones statue, feels he may have the answer.

“There’s only one feasible explanation,” said Sautner.

“The Blues host the Crusaders this weekend at Eden Park in a rematch of last year’s thrilling final. This is the stadium and suburb welcoming them back home by turning blue in anticipation.”

In 2022, the Blues went through the regular season unbeaten at The Fortress. A bumper crowd is expected for this Saturday’s match according to local fan Jimmy Johnson, whose season ticket seat and dog have both turned a shade of blue.

“I was a bit shocked when I woke up to “Carlos” my Chocolate Labrador, with a bright blue nose and ears. It’s crept to his fur now but as a Blues fan, I’ve actually grown to quite like it.”

“Eden Park called to say my seat is blue too! Something strange is going on but as long as the scoreline is all blue on Saturday, I couldn’t care less.”

Unsurprisingly, Blues CEO Andrew Hore has welcomed the recent developments.

“I’m all for it! When it comes to Super Rugby, this region is all about one colour and that colour is blue,” said Hore.

“Nick Sautner called me early this morning thinking we’d done some guerrilla marketing over the last couple of days but once he saw the extent of it, we both agreed there was a bigger force at play.”
