Awhina Tangen-Wainohu joins the nib Blues having previously played for Chiefs Manawa in Super Rugby Aupiki. 

She is an athletic prop who has spent time on the sideline in recent seasons with a neck injury.  

After strong Super Rugby Aupiki and Farah Palmer Cup campaigns in 2022 she was selected in the Black Ferns squad for the O'Reilly Cup Test series against Australia, debuting off the bench in Christchurch. 

Tangen-Wainohu was also named in the Black Ferns Rugby World Cup squad, later that year. 

Awhina comes to the nib Blues after a frustrating spell on the sidelines and will be looking to recapture the form that made her a Black Fern.
