Versatile prop Angus Ta’avao is back at the club where he made his Super Rugby debut back in 2012.

Ta’avao, who can prop both sides of the scrum, has played 23 Tests for the All Blacks and also represented New Zealand at Under 20s level. He has played Super Rugby at the Blues, Waratahs and the Chiefs.

In the 2024 Blues championship season, Ta’avao played in every game - a testament to his durability and resilience as a rugby player. He chalked up his 50th appearance for the Blues, a moment he dedicated to his family for their unwavering support of his career.

Ta’avao’s career has seen some interesting parallels – he made his Super Rugby debut for the Blues against the Chiefs in 2012 in Hamilton and played his 100th Super Rugby match for the Chiefs against the Blues at Eden Park. Crazy!

Gus is back in blue for 2025 and will be an invaluable asset on and off the park. His fun loving nature makes him a favourite with fans and judging by his performances on the park last season, there’s still plenty of rugby left in Gus the Bus!

Angus is contracted with the Blues through until the end of the 2025 season.
