How long have you been a Blues fan for?
I grew up with Blues in my blood, influenced by my Dad and brothers ever since I was born in Tonga until now and it will continue for the rest of my life
I still remember back in the island when hardly anyone had a television set and we were lucky enough to own one, so every time there was Super 10,12 rugby we were all gathered around and watched Auckland. Since 1993 I think I was only 8 years old by then and I’m not too sure but we had a final with Natal and we lost 21-17, I still remember it really well because it hurt and that’s how I knew I was a BLUES FAN SINCE 🙂
What makes you such an avid fan of the Blues?
I grew up with a huge passion towards rugby supporting Auckland, and migrating to Auckland played a big part of being a Blues fan with lots of multicultural around so it felt I†was back home. This year I converted my wife from rugby league (Wigan Warriors fan) to become a true Blues fan as well as most of my mates. I’m looking forward to converting more Blues fans in the future.
What’s your game day routine, where do you travel from and where do you sit at Eden Park during the match?
My game day routine involves wearing my Blues hand band and jersey, also my Blues cap all day even if it’s a home or away game.
I do bit of driving and swaying around Auckland traffic from St Johns down with my wife and find a side street, paid parking then walk down to Eden Park an hour before the game. We always look for our TRUE BLUE HQ FAN WEST STAND 333 or we join the Auckland Referees members at the North Stand.
How do you enjoy using social media to chat with players, fellow passionate Blues fans and keep up to date with all Blues news?
I mostly use Twitter and Facebook when it’s an away game and it’s awesome, you’ve got to love the live updated scores if you’re stuck at work. You also have the luxury of chatting and commenting with the True Blues fans and other fans’ thoughts too. You can also get to tweet the team after the game and it helps me to be very up to date with news with the Blues through their FB page 🙂 and twitter @BluesRugbyTeam.
What have you made of the Blues’ performances so far this season, and how do you think they’ll go this year?
Young, exciting, productive players we got this year and there is a big future ahead of them and I respect that. Give them time to develop through experience and skills and no doubt they will be superstars. Their performances so far have been awesome as a fan myself I am pretty stoked and excited every time I am at Eden Park supporting the boys, we will get there because I learned from one of my first XV coach back then as MR HARRIS quotes “we might lose many battles ,but there’s a war to be won” go the Blues!
Good luck to the boys that made it to All Black training squads you have made us proud !! GOOOO THE MIGHTY BLUESSSS #BETTERNEVERSTOPS
