Disappointing end leaves Blues in 7th  

Outgoing coach Peter Sloane’s fourth and final campaign started promisingly with the club earning their second ever victory at Carisbrook over the Highlanders, followed by a narrow 18-15 win over the Queensland Reds. 

But losses to both the Chiefs (9-18) and the Crusaders followed – the latter a crushing 41-19 defeat, which had the Eden Park faithful totally silenced by the 34-0 halftime scoreline. 

The Blues managed four consecutive victories, but a slump of three losses in the final three weeks saw the Blues slip to seventh on the table.
