To’o Vaega is best remembered for his contribution to Samoan rugby, his efforts at the 1991 Rugby World Cup in particular. He scored the game-winning try in an historic win over Wales.

Vaega represented Samoan 61 times over his 15-year international career, from 1986 to 2001. He also played for the Highlanders during the first two years of Super Rugby before transferring to the Blues in 2000 at the latter stages of his career.
