Tevita’s raw power, skill in finding the gap and evasiveness on the field earned him a Blues debut against France in 2013 while still a student at Massey High School. He was recruited out of high school to play for North Harbour and the Blues, whereby he continued to impress with startling speed.

An All Black back line mentored Li through his first two years with the Blues, helping him earn 15 Super Rugby caps in the process. In 2014 and 2015 Li earned a spot in the IRB Junior World Championship squads and helped the Baby Blacks win the 2015 title. He scored 11 tries over the two tournaments, becoming New Zealand’s all-time leading try-scorer.

Li has also shown skill off the field in music and theatre, helping the Blues honour the WW1 100 year centenary with a moving version of The Last Post on trumpet. At the end of the 2016 season, Tevita took up a contract with Crusaders rugby.
