Tanielu is a product of the St Kentigern’s College rugby production line, captaining the 1st XV in 2016.

The explosive centre represented the Manu Samoa Under 20s in 2017, playing against New Zealand, before switching sides in 2018 to play for the Baby Blacks in France.

Tanielu was part of the Blues side to take out the Brisbane 10s title in February of 2018.

In 2018 Tanielu made his debut for Auckland, impressing both on the field and in the weights room, he holds several strength records among the backs in the Mitre 10 Cup squad.

Tanielu made his debut for The Blues from the bench against The Sharks in round 2 of the 2019 Super Rugby season. He made his Super Rugby starting debut against the Jaguares in Buenos Aires in Round 3 of the 2019 season.

A series of eye catching individual tries saw him become a regular feature on the wing, dueling with fellow young gun Caleb Clarke for a spot in the match day 15.

With  9 caps to his name at the end of his rookie season, Tanielu can add experience to his naturally powerful running game. One to watch in 2020.
