Steven Luatua is an impressive loose forward and leader who garnered international honours at a young age, valued for his impressive physique, power and skill. The Mt Albert Grammar old boy made the NZ Secondary Schools team in 2010, the same year that he was selected for the Auckland provincial squad. He played a key role for the NZ U20 teams in their back-to-back IRB Junior World Championship titles in 2010 and 2011.

Steven made his debut for the Blues in 2012 and his outstanding form earned All Black selection in 2013 against France and has earned 14 caps for New Zealand.

He started in all 15 games in 2016 season, and is a key part of this outstanding Blues loose forward group, although he can also move to lock effectively if required.
