At just 22, the former Mount Albert Grammar School first five and playmaker is bringing plenty of rugby and life experience to the Blues.
He captained MAGS to a national title in in 2010 and earned a spot on the NZ Secondary Schools team the same year.
In 2011, McGahan – the son of former Kiwis captain Hugh McGahan – decided to follow in his father’s footsteps with the Melbourne Storm Under 20 team. At the end of his apprenticeship in 2013 McGahan decided to return to New Zealand and pursue his first sport: rugby.
In 2014, McGahan was named in the Blues Development Squad and by 2015 he’d gained his first Super Rugby cap against the Crusaders, the same year that he won the 2015 Blues Development Player of the Year award.
