Leni made his provincial debut in 2014 for Wellington at just 18 years of age. The following year he had established himself as the first-choice hookerfor his province. Leni’s form was such that he won promotion to the Hurricanes Wider Training Group for 2015. He has been a regular squad member since, making his Super Rugby debut in 2016.

Leni made the New Zealand Secondary Schools team in 2013 and captained the New Zealand Under 20s at the Junior World Championship in 2016. He was also selected in the Maori All Blacks squad for their Tour that same year.

Leni joined the Blues in 2018 and has earned 16 caps in his two seasons at the club. At just 23 years of age, Leni is an incredible rugby talent. He is a young leader who is accurate at set piece and abrasive runner.

Leni came back into the Blues squad for the Super Rugby 2021 season, following the retirement of James Parsons. He featured a further 3 times for the Blues during 2021.
