From Pukekohe High School, the lock/loose forward was selected for the 2012 Junior World Championship winning New Zealand Under-20 side in South Africa. That same year Jimmy made his debut for Counties Manukau. The Steelers flanker became a central figure in their promotion from the Mitre 10 Cup Championship and Ranfurly Shield success.

The former NZ U20 player and talented leader was another to suffer from a season-ending injury that sidelined him for half of the 2018 season. He shelved plans to head to Japan to return to the Blues in 2019, with a diligent off-season rehab programme.

The former Crusaders loose forward who returned home to Auckland in 2017, is a key lock-loose forward as a ball-winner, strong defender and aggressive with ball in hand. He has chalked up 50 Super Rugby games and could chalk up 50 for the Blues in 2019.
