From Pukekohe High School, the lock/loose forward was selected for the 2012 Junior World Championship winning New Zealand Under-20 side in South Africa. That same year Jimmy made his debut for Counties Manukau. The Steelers flanker became a central figure in their promotion from the Mitre 10 Cup Championship and Ranfurly Shield success.

The former NZ U20 player and talented leader was another to suffer from a season-ending injury that sidelined him for half of the 2018 season. He shelved plans to head to Japan to return to the Blues in 2019, with a diligent off-season rehab programme.

The former Crusaders loose forward who returned home to Auckland in 2017, is a key lock-loose forward as a ball-winner, strong defender and aggressive with ball in hand. He has chalked up 50 Super Rugby games, however due to injury was not able to add to his tally for the Blues in 2019.
