Blake has turned heads since his debut with the Blues in 2015. He is an aggressive, physical, fast and intelligent player.
Blake was captain of St Kentigern College, leading them to the 1A division title in 2013. He was subsequently selected for the Blues Development XV and the Auckland provincial side the following year.
Blake made an early impression in his debut season, winning selection in the New Zealand Barbarians side to play the Maori All Blacks. Blake has been with the Blues for 4 Super Rugby seasons, amassing a total of 30 caps for the Blues in that time.
The former NZ U20 star was beset with injury that sidelined him for all but the final three games of the 2018 season. He was again injured after an outstanding start to the Mitre-1o Cup competition and missed the early part of the 2019 Super Rugby season. Despite his injury lay-off, Blake was named as Co-Captain of the Blues alongside Patrick Tuipulotu.
Blake’s first game as Captain of the Blues was a 33 – 26 victory over the Highlanders at Eden Park.
Sitting on 41 caps for the Blues, Blake will hope for a healthy campaign for the club to reach the 50 game milestone and push for higher honours.
