The Unión Argentina de Rugby (UAR) held a press conference today in which the Jaguares were presented as the official Argentine franchise that will compete in Super Rugby from 2016.
Along with the club’s name, the UAR also unveiled the logo, jersey, team management, captain and complete squad. The team will commence training from January 4, 2016.
Raúl Pérez has been appointed the inaugural head coach with Felipe Contepomi, José Pellicena and Martín Gaitán to serve as assistants. Rugby World Cup star Agustin Creevy will lead the Jaguares as captain.
Vélez Sarsfield was confirmed as stadium where the Jaguares will be playing their home matches in Buenos Aires.
The Blues will be playing the Jaguares during round 6 of competition at QBE Stadium here in Auckland.
