Faumuina out for up to six weeks with calf strain

Yesterday’s disappointing 27-30 loss to the Waratahs has been compounded by news Blues prop Charlie Faumuina is out of action for up to six weeks with a calf strain.
The seven-Test tighthead prop suffered a grade two right calf strain midway through the first half in Sydney, but he will have an ultrasound scan tomorrow to assess the full extent of the injury. He will remain on crutches at this stage.
Angus Ta’avao, who came on for Faumuina yesterday at Allianz Stadium, shapes as the most obvious replacement for Saturday’s blockbuster clash with the Chiefs, while Ofa Tu’ungafasi also provides cover at tighthead prop.
The Blues face the Chiefs at Baypark Stadium, Mount Maunganui on Saturday night (kick-off 7.35pm).
