Organisers are asking fans to be planned and leave plenty of time if they are attending Sunday’s Investec Super Rugby Aotearoa match at Eden Park.
At mid-afternoon (Thursday) 34,000 seats had been sold for the first-round match between the Blues and the Hurricanes, kicking off at 3.35pm on Sunday as the first professional rugby competition in the world to get underway post the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative of General Admission seating at $20 for adults with children free has been so popular that it has exhausted supply. There are still further grandstand seating options available; platinum, gold and silver reserve seating.
“We are excited that this is going to be a special occasion that everyone will remember. It is a celebration of what New Zealand has achieved as a nation to get to this stage, and we are humbled and privileged by the response from fans,” said Blues CEO, Andrew Hore.
“This will be huge and we need the fans to be well planned. It will place massive load on staff, many of whom are new or of course just back in employment after stand-downs and layoffs while places like Eden Park were unused. Please be patient.
“We recommend the following advice to fans coming along.”
