The Blues’ wretched run of injuries has reached unprecedented levels as they have been forced to call up Northland number 8 Cam Goodhue to replace Peter Saili ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with the Crusaders.
Saili was a late withdrawal after suffering an injury during training yesterday, and with all loose forward stocks completely exhausted, Lam has had to look outside the squad for replacements.
The loose forward injury toll now stands at six, with Jerome Kaino, Chris Lowrey, Brad Mika, Saili and Wider Training Group players Sean Polwart and Dan Pryor all in the casualty ward.
25-year-old Goodhue spent a frantic morning packing his bags and driving from Northland to Auckland to join the team and make the flight to Christchurch on time.
The 1.90m, 110kg loosie has been involved with the Blues Development Squad this year and played a pre-season match for the Blues against the Hurricanes in Whangarei.
