CHRIS MAJOR JOINS BLUES RUGBY BOARD
The Blues are pleased to confirm that Chris Major has been appointed as an independent director of Blues Rugby. Chris is the third representative appointed by the new private ownership group, the Better Blues Company Limited.
Chris has extensive experience in corporate affairs and stakeholder engagement and is currently Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Sky New Zealand. She joins recently appointed co-opted director Tracey Evans as the next two female directors on the Blues Rugby Board.
“Blues Rugby is at an important and exciting stage, and I’m thrilled to be joining the team on the journey which focuses on creating deeper connections with our community and our fans and supporting the growth of rugby across the Blues region,” said Chris.
“Our focus is to build a rugby franchise of the future – one that creates opportunities for both males and females and ‘turns our region blue’ in terms of fan support and community engagement. It’s personally special to be joining the Board at the time of the formation of the nib Blues Aupiki team to compete in the inaugural women’s Sky Super Rugby competition, and I’m excited to be part of Blues Rugby as we strive to keep the positive momentum going across the Club.”
Blues Rugby Chair, Don Mackinnon said “We’re thrilled to have Chris join our Board. She has an accomplished career and her broad experience in communications and stakeholder engagement, broadcasting and New Zealand sport will further strengthen the board and complement the skills and expertise of current board members.
“Blues Rugby is at a really important intersection where we’re striving to genuinely connect our Club with the needs of our community. Bringing different perspectives and experiences to the Board not only improves the quality of decision-making it helps us successfully navigate this intersection to benefit the whole team, including our players, staff and partners.”
