Blues Development ready for big challenge

The Blues Development team is looking to bounce back from a last-minute loss against Samoa A when they run out against the Fiji Warriors at Waitemata Park tomorrow (kick-off 2.30pm).
The Fijians are the reigning Pacific Rugby Cup champions and with two wins and two draws so far in their 2013 campaign, they present a tough challenge for the Blues.
“We are well aware of the challenges they will present ñ they are a big, strong, fast team,” said Blues Development Coach Bevan Cadwallader.
“While we can’t do much analysis on these teams and how they play we do know the calibre of players they have.”
Cadwallader has named a similar line-up to the team who played Samoa A on Monday, with the inclusion of Blues players Tim Perry and Marty McKenzie.
Joe Edwards returns from injury to captain the team, firming up a solid loose forward trio with Sean Polwart and William Whetton.
New Zealand Under-20 team-mates Bryn Hall and McKenzie pair up in the halves and Lolagi Visinia returns to start at fullback.
Cadwallader said the key to changing fortunes would be the individual preparation of players.
“It will be about getting our heads in the right place. In comparison to our first two matches, on Monday we were off mentally. We didn’t react well to the intensity and passion that Samoa bought to the game.
“It will be a test for our players to make sure they learnt from that and they go about putting it right tomorrow,” said Cadwallader.
The Blues finish their campaign on Thursday against Japan A at Bell Park in Pakuranga.
