Twenty-five Pt England School students will have rugby boots this season thanks to our Blues Best Foot Forward (BFF) programme and partner Yakult.
Rene Ranger and Billy Guyton delivered the pre-loved boots to the school, which had been donated by members of the public, and cleaned, re-laced and bagged by Blues players and staff in special-edition BFF bags.
Every pair of boots comes with brand-new blue laces, to remind the wearer to always put their best foot forward – on and off the field.
Following a mihi and waiata by students, Billy shared some Blues rugby insights with the young rugby players in the crowd, before watching a video of Pt England School rugby highlights, and sticking around to sign posters and pose for some photographs.
BFF is a programme to gift recycled boots to youngsters who might otherwise miss out on playing rugby. With the support of Yakult, manufacturer of the Yakult fermented milk drink, the Blues are seeking donations of used boots in good condition, which we’ll clean and donate to the young people who need them most.
If you would like to donate some pre-loved boots to the cause, there are collection bins on site at Blues’ home games, accessible 24/7 at Eden Park and QBE Stadium and available during office hours at the Blues High Performance Centre.
