The RuFIT Study is returning to the Blues in March, offering male rugby fans the chance to train like the Blues.
It’s a custom-designed healthy lifestyle programme for men looking to improve fitness and to reduce cardiovascular risk. Participants will learn from Blues coaches, have access to our new Blues gym at Alexandra Park and have the chance to win Blues tickets for the 2016 Super Rugby season.
The RuFIT team is looking for 40 participants – 20 to take part in the training programme and 20 to function as a control group. Each participant will receive vouchers for their involvement, plus opportunities to meet the team.
Are you eligible? The team is looking for men aged 65 years or under who have let their exercise routine or nutrition habits slip a bit in recent years!
The programme will be run over 12 weeks, beginning Saturday 20 February with participants required to attend a Saturday morning session each week, plus either a Tuesday morning or Wednesday evening session.
Participants will begin with a goal setting, baseline measurements and holistic health morning, similar to how our Super Rugby players enter the Blues environment.
Each week will cover key nutrition, mindful eating and behaviour ‘classroom’ sessions. The classroom sessions will be coupled with 75-minute fitness and strength-based training, working alongside Blues Strength and Conditioning staff as well as some Blues players.
If you’re interested, come along to the RuFIT Open Day at Alexandra Park on Saturday 13 February, beginning at 10am. The study team will explain further details about study, so feel free to bring along friends and family who also fit the criteria.
